The Moriuchi Group is made up of several talented real estate professionals helping each other and our clients with their buying and selling needs. We want to introduce you to our team, one agent at a time, so you can get to know us a little better! Meet team member Tim Lee.
Why did you join the Moriuchi Group and why The Moriuchi Group?
I was introduced to Naoji by a mutual friend. Naoji and I had lunch together and instantly hit it off. He was very even keel, I knew he had a marketing background, and I knew a number of his previous coworkers and they spoke very highly of him. I interviewed with 10 brokerages and I didn’t like any of them. My background is in corporate HR so I knew how to properly interview someone. Naoji was the only agent that took the time to truly interview me. The other brokerages brought me in and tried to sell, Naoji brought me in and asked questions, tried to get to know me to see if I would be a good fit. Many teams just try to hire as many people as possible to see who will stick, they are hiring bodies, Naoji takes the time to hire the right person.
Why do you love being a real estate agent?
I like it for two reasons, I really love houses. I love how things are built and the craftsmanship. I enjoy touring homes and learning more every day about properties. And lastly, I like helping people and I always have.
What makes you a good agent?
Empathy! There are a lot of emotions involved in buying/selling a home and I believe being an empathetic person is really helpful in this business. Each sale can be intense with fear and anxiety for the client and you have to understand those emotions and how to help your clients through them. You have to lead with compassion. I can read people very well and I’m a good listener. I also help coach my clients on the real estate process and advise them as best I can so they know what to expect at all times. Ultimately customer service is a top priority because I want to make sure my clients have the best experience possible and walk away feeling great about the service I have provided.
What’s your favorite part about living in south Jersey?
Farmland, I love the open space. I have a very quiet, simple life but it’s also great that I can easily get into a metropolitan area with ease to experience the “craziness” of the city. I love the beach and have a shore house down in Wildwood. My wife and two daughters love beach days down at the shore. Cape May is one of my favorite spots. I enjoy going to the Ebbitt Room at the Virginia Hotel to sit on the porch and for after dinner drinks with my wife.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love to cook with my family, host dinner parties, biking, and building things! I have really gotten into building bird houses. I also do all the floor plans for new listings, which I really enjoy.
What’s an interesting fact about you?
I was born very poor, my father was a sanitation worker, my mother a homemaker. We couldn’t afford a refrigerator so we had to use an ice box. I had to be resourceful and am really self taught. I knew I wanted a different life so through hard work I was able to send myself to college and am the only one in my family, and extended family to do so.
What’s a quote you live by?
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”
